On September 24, 2022, Benjamin Lynn Pfantz, beloved son of Theron and Sherry Gimnich Pfantz, passed from this life and entered eternal rest. Benjamin was born in DeRidder on July 12, 1988. He graduated from DeRidder High School, where he excelled in sports and band. Benjamin attended Sowela Technical School in Lake Charles. An excellent golfer, Benjamin enjoyed golfing with his dad, and sister, Ashley. Many words can be used to describe Benjamin: studious, intuitive, kind, loving, giving, and talented, just to name a few. A self-taught guitarist, he enjoyed singing with his sisters at family gatherings. A gentle, sweet soul, Ben always cheered on the underdog. His precious smile will be missed by all who knew and loved him. Left to cherish wonderful memories are his parents, Theron and Sherry; sisters, Brittany Pfantz Masterson and husband, Benjamin, and Ashley Pfantz; nephew, Van Moses Masterson; grandparents, Bill and Oletha Gates; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and was Uncle Benny to Cruz, Lincoln, Emrie, and Ansley Arthur, as well as Gramps and Granny Cooley. He is preceded in death by his grandparents, S.D. “Tony” and Mamie Gimnich; great-grandparents, Lonnie and Ola Bea Fletcher. A Celebration of Ben’s life will be held in Grace Church of DeRidder on Saturday, May 20, 2023 at 10 a.m. Rev. Larry Gimnich, Rev. George Lee Glass, and Rev. Ralph Sikes, Celebrants. A private burial will follow the service under the direction of Chaddick Funeral Home of DeRidder and Johnson & Brown Funeral Home of Iowa. Pallbearers honored to serve are Layne, Lincoln, and David Gimnich, Taylor Spence, Benjamin Masterson, Timothy “Tim Tim” Herrington, Scotty Arthur, and Nicolas Bethke. A gathering of family and friends will begin Friday, May 19, 2023 from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. in Grace Church of DeRidder. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Soul Soup of Grace Church, 111 S.
