Bertha Faye Walker Rush-Spears, 85, of New Llano passed away Thursday, July 11, 2024. Visitation will be Monday, July 15 from 11am-12pm at Chaddick Funeral Home. Funeral service will be Monday, July 15 at 12pm at Chaddick Funeral Home. Rev. Darryl Hoychick will officiate.
Our beloved Bertha was born to Joshua and Vadie (Bailey) Walker in Shreveport, LA. She grew up with two brothers and five sisters.
She dearly loved her family. She spent her early adult life as an Army wife and mother traveling all over the United States with her husband, the father of her six children. One of her happiest achievements as an adult was when she obtained her GED.
Being a loving mother was her calling and occupation that she excelled in. Her love for her family had no bounds, it just kept growing with each child, grandchild, and great grandchild.
Bertha loved to cook and watch her family, friends, and loved ones enjoy her meals prepared specifically for them. She was an avid craft person and loved to crochet, making beautiful afghans.
She was devout Pentecostal up until the time she could no longer drive to church. Her presence will be greatly missed by all who loved her. She touched the lives of everyone she met or came in contact with.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Joshua and Vadie Walker; daughter, Judy Rush-Hilton; second husband, Clarence Spears; and her six siblings, William, Johnny, Bertty Mae, Betty, Lula, and Gladdis.
Those left to cherish her memory are her first husband, James Rush, Sr. of Leesville, LA; and five sons, James Rush, Jr. of Buna, TX, John Rush of Leesville, LA, Jay Rush & Lugina of New Llano, LA, Jeff Rush & Bertha of Leesville, LA, and Joshua Rush & Melissa of Leesville, LA.
As her family we can’t thank you enough for all the prayers, texts, and calls. We also want to thank Acadian Ambulance, City of New Llano, Byrd Regional ER in Leesville, Life Flight, Our Lady of Lourdes in Lafayette, and finally Harbor Hospice of Lake Charles. There are many, many others who we so much appreciate during this difficult time. Please keep us in your prayers in the days, weeks, months, and years ahead. We have a huge void in our lives now and realize only God can fill it.
