Betty Midkiff Chaddick, 85, passed away peacefully on July 21, 2021, following a brief illness.
Betty was born in the small community of Cottonwood, Louisiana to Hardie and Essie Loftin Midkiff. She married the love of her life in December 1952 and moved to San Diego, California where her husband was stationed in the US Marine Corps. They moved to Maplewood in 1956, where she took pride in being a wife, mother and homemaker. She enjoyed cooking and loved sharing her recipes with her family, especially her grandchildren; she often delivered meals to family and friends. She was a lifelong caregiver-first for a daughter with special needs and later, her husband, until his death last December as a result of Alzheimer’s disease. She loved her family, friends, neighbors, and church community. In her spare time, she loved to read, especially her Bible and daily devotionals.
Betty is survived by three daughters, Janet Cline and husband Tim of Surprise, Arizona; Debbie Bowers and husband Ronnie; and Diane Buck and husband Jerry, all of Sulphur; one daughter-in-law, Debra Chaddick, also of Sulphur; 11 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-grandchildren plus numerous nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her loving husband of 68 years, Edward Dale Chaddick, her son, Michael Dale Chaddick; daughter, Jeanne Chaddick; two sisters, Marjorie Midkiff and Peggy Kennedy; and three brothers, Hardie Midkiff, Jr., Bobby Midkiff, and B.T. Midkiff.
