Billy “Guy T” Lewis, 85, a longtime resident of Rosepine, LA, went to be with Jesus June 16, 2018 at Byrd Memorial Hospital surrounded by his family after a long and courageous battle with dementia and a recent stroke.
Visitation will be Tuesday, June 19 from 6-8pm at Diamond Baptist Church. Celebration of life will be Wednesday, June 20 at 10am at Diamond Baptist Church. Interment will be at Rosepine Cemetery. Rev. Paul Massey and Rev. Charles Williams will officiate.
Guy T was born February 24, 1933 to Hazel Nelson Lewis and Orville Clyde Lewis of Blum, TX. He graduated from Itasca High School (Texas) in 1952. He proudly served in the Army from 1953-1955. He married his high school sweetheart Billie Sue Crumpton on July 20, 1953. Guy T went to work for the Department of the Army Civil Service in 1959 and retired in 1983.
Guy T loved the Lord and his family, in that order. He loved people and was always a willing servant to do the Lord’s work – he was a soul winner. He went on 15 mission trips from New Mexico to Zimbabwe. He faithfully cared for his mother-in-law, Clara Crumpton for 15 years until she passed in 2015.
Guy T is survived by his wife, Billie of almost 65 years. His daughter, Teresa Freund and husband, Joe of Neosho, MO. His grandson, Tony Arnold and wife, Becky of Rosepine, LA. His two granddaughters, Trixie Tice and husband Scott of Neosho, MO and Latosha Renfro and husband, John of Neosho, MO. Eight great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Sharon Sue Lewis; son, Guy Tracy Lewis; two sisters and four brothers.
The family wants to express sincere gratitude to the wonderful staff and nurses at The Woodlands, Byrd Memorial Hospital, and Hospice of Leesville.
In lieu of flowers the family request donations be made to The Alzheimer Foundation or The Gideons International through Chaddick Funeral Home.
