Brenda Joyce Smith

On Wednesday, December 1, 2021, Brenda Joyce Smith, devoted mother, and grandmother departed this life at the age of 64.  She was born May 24, 1957 in DeRidder, LA to Gordy and Effie Smith.  Brenda was affectionately known as Big Brenda by family, friends, and loved ones.  Big Brenda was a loving mother who raised her one and only son, Eric Smith in tenderness and love. However, she was a mother to the generations and helped to rear her nieces, nephews, and greats.  Likewise, she was a dedicated daughter and maintained the health, care and well being of her father Gordy Smith, Sr. until his passing. Big Brenda loved to talk on the phone, talk smack, eat snacks, watch TV, sit on the front porch of her “ Brenda was baptized and accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as her personal savior and had a special relationship with her heavenly Father.  She leaves to cherish her memory of love, laughter, and kindness, one son, Eric Smith Sr. (Jonie) of DeRidder, LA; three beloved grandchildren, Eric “EJ” Smith, Jr. of DeRidder, LA, Hannah G. Smith of DeRidder, LA and Maya Williams of Dallas, TX; four sisters, Hilda Smith of DeRidder, LA, Doreatha Smith of DeRidder, LA, Carolyn Tiller & Vincent of DeRidder, LA and Connie Wilkerson & Ray of Beaumont, TX; six brothers, Peter Petry & Martha of Beaumont, TX, Garfield Smith & Noella of Beaumont, TX, Timothy Smith, Sr. & Marilyn of Beaumont, TX, Marvin Smith, Sr. & Amy of Houston, TX, Jimmie Smith & Mae of DeRidder, LA and Eddie Smith & Charlotte of DeRidder, LA; special nieces, Brenda Carr, Amber Freeney, Angel Freeney, Ayanna Carr, and Alexis Carr; and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents, Gordy & Effie Smith; brother, Gordy Smith, Jr.; and infant granddaughter, Erin Janae Smith. Visitation will be Saturday, December 11 from 10am until time of service at Chaddick Funeral Home.  Funeral service will be Saturday, December 11 at 11am at Chaddick Funeral Home.  Interment will be at Spikes Cemetery.  Pastor Murray Piper will officiate. The family of Brenda Smith wishes to acknowledge the many expressions of sympathy and gestures of kindness shown to us following our sad loss.  We offer our heartfelt thanks to the many friends and neighbors who provided emotional and practical support for us at this difficult time.  We are truly grateful.
