Buford Vernon Cooley

Buford Vernon Cooley,  74, was born July 28, 1941, in Ragley, LA, and departed this life in Lake Charles, LA, on May 24, 2016.  Vernon was a member of New Life Pentecostal Church of Ragley. Vernon graduated from Ragley High School in 1959.  He retired from PPG after 39 ½  years and was known as “Spade” by fellow workers.  He was a U.S. Army veteran, having served in Germany.  Vernon served many years as Secretary of First United Pentecostal Church of Ragley. Vernon is survived by his wife, Bonnie Cooley of Moss Bluff; four sons, Jeff Cooley & Monica, Allan Cooley, William Cooley & Nora, and Buford Cooley, all of Ragley; one daughter, Rebekaha Cooley of Ragley; and niece, Stephanie Cooley Gibbs of Ragley; grandchildren, Matthew and Katie Cooley, and Casey and Gracie Cooley, all of Ragley; three sisters, Judy Fey & Bill of DeQuincy, Janie Buford & David of DeQuincy, and Doll Bennett & George of Longville.  His wife’s children and grandchildren are Angie Snider & David of Moss Bluff, Laken Hickman & Matthew of Westlake, Hunter Snider of Moss Bluff, and Amy Stark and Bailey Stark of Lake Charles. Host of Nieces, Nephews, Family and Friends. He is preceded in death by his first wife and mother of his children, LaVonne Austin Cooley; parents, Claude & Ruby Cooley; and brother, Gary Cooley. Visitation will be at First United Pentecostal Church of Ragley on Thursday, May 26, 2016, from 4pm until time of service.  Funeral will be Friday, May 27, 2016 at 10am at First United Pentecostal Church of Ragley.  Officiating will be Rev. Glen Cooley, Rev. Sean Chisholm, and son, Rev. Jeff Cooley.  Burial will be at Hagar Cemetery in Ragley. Condolences can be made at chaddickfuneralhome.com.
