Ealie Norman “Henry” Teasley, Jr.

d. March 20, 2024

Ealie Norman “Henry” Teasley, Jr., 101, of DeRidder, LA passed away Wednesday, March 20, 2024.  A memorial service will be held at a later date. Henry is survived by his daughter, Alicia Duhon of Georgetown, LA; grandson, Tommy Vander of Houston, TX; four grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his wife, Lydia Teasley; daughter, Sherron Howard; son, Jack Barksdale Johnson; and grandson, Paul Vander. Born October 26, 1922, his birth certificate has EN Teasley, Jr.; and he is also known as Ealie Teasley; however, his friends call him, Henry Teasley. Mr. Teasley was born in Fisher, LA and had eight siblings.  He shared a wonderful life with his wife, Lydia Marie Leonard Teasley and they shared two daughters, Sherron Howard and Alicia Duhon. Beginning in the 1940’s, Mr. Henry spent 23 years in the Merchant Marines as Chief Engineer, on a ship where he traveled two tours around the world.  He served in WWII.  Mr. Teasley moved to DeRidder, LA in the early 1960’s.  He was the first Juvenile Officer in DeRidder, LA.  Mr. Teasley served three years on the police force.  He worked as an AI Technician in Beauregard Parish with the LSU County Agency office for 17 years where he retired.  After retiring from the Merchant Marines and LSU County Agency, he returned to work as a Rural Carrier for the US Postal Service for 12 years and then retired again.  Mr. Teasley always believed in hard work no matter what his job was. Mr. Henry was self-taught when it came to his education.  He left home at 15 to join the Merchant Marines and attended Officer Training School during WWII at Mount Carmel.  Mr. Teasley was a history buff and if you could sit down and talk to him about the research he has done on the history of the United States you would realize what a wealth of knowledge he was. Mr. Teasley was a Christian and enjoyed reading the Bible.  He felt he always learned more and more about the Bible when he read the Bible through and delved into the scriptures.
