Elma Gaye Woodard Mckee

Gaye Woodard McKee, 89, passed away on May 16, 2022 after a brief illness.  Born on July 2, 1932 to Elmer and Lucille Woodard, she married her beloved husband, Benard McKee, in 1951.  They had 48 years together before his passing in 1999.  She was a lifelong resident of Rosepine and Vernon Parish, Louisiana.  She had a deep faith and was a member of the Rosepine United Pentecostal Church.  She was passionate about her family and friends, was a diehard Rosepine Eagles fan and loved oil painting and flowers. Gaye was a third grade teacher at Rosepine Elementary for 30 years.  After retirement, she remained active in the Rosepine and Vernon Parish communities.  She was a School Board Member of District 7 for 11 years, a member of the Rosepine Historical Society and was currently serving as a member on the Vernon Parish Library Board. She leaves to cherish her memory a son, Dalton and his wife Brenda; one grandson, Cody McKee; one great-grandson, Clayton Thompson; two sisters, Carolyn Roseberry & Larry and Patty Cupit & Kim Stokes; two brothers, Elmer “Bub” Woodard and Sammy Woodard; one brother-in-law, Glenon “Red” Mckee; two sisters-in-law, Mildred McKee and Margaret McKee; and a host of nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Benard McKee; granddaughter, Shanna McKee Thompson; sisters, Edna Fletcher and Joy Spencer; and niece, Charley Cupit. Visitation will be Wednesday, May 18 from 5-8pm at Chaddick Funeral Home in DeRidder, LA.  Funeral service will be Thursday, May 19 at 10am at Rosepine United Pentecostal Church in Rosepine, LA.  Interment will be at Rosepine Cemetery.  Rev.
