George Casper Feldtman, Jr., 92, of DeRidder, went to be with the Lord on June 9, 2017. His visitation will be Tuesday, June 13 from 4-6pm at Chaddick Funeral Home. Funeral service will be Wednesday, June 14 at 3:30pm at First Baptist Church. Interment will be at Beauregard Cemetery. Rev. Josh Eubanks and Rev. Lindsey Burns will officiate.
He is survived by one daughter, Shelia Feldtman of DeRidder; two sons, George Darrell Feldtman of Texarkana, TX, and Eldon Wayne Feldtman & Toni of DeRidder; four grandchildren, Raine, River, Lake and Creek; sister-in-law, Jodi Ripple Feldtman Wright of San Antonio, TX; brother-in-law & sister-in-law, Hampton Louis Simmons & Bobbie Simmons; and numerous nieces, nephews, family, and friends.
George was born in San Antonio to Ella Beene Feldtman & George Casper Feldtman, Sr. He was a member of First Baptist Church and the DeRidder Lions Club. He also was a member of Grand Lodge, Sons of Hermann of Texas for over 70 years. He served on the Beauregard Parish Police Jury for 8 years. He was a civil service maintenance supervisor for 40 years at Ft. Polk.
George grew up surrounded by a large German family, numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins in San Antonio, TX. His family has lived in San Antonio since the 1840’s. His mother and father had a dairy in downtown San Antonio. They later moved to a farm in Calaveras, TX. During the depression his family left their farm to help his Aunt Mary and Cousin Blanche on their ranch in San Antonio. The husbands of both Mary and Blanche died and they needed help from George’s father and his four brothers to run the ranch. His mother and father always went out of their way to help family and friends. His parents’ selfless actions taught George valuable life lessons. Family and friends of George could always count on him whenever they needed help.
George lost his mother when he was only 13 years old. Fortunately he had two big sisters, Katie Lou and Fern that adored him and took care of him their whole lives.
Having children later in life allowed George to be a favorite uncle to his many nieces and nephews. After the passing of all his brothers and sisters he continued to enrich the lives of his nieces and nephews and they him.
He was met in heaven by the love of his life, his wife of 52 years, Norma Glynn Simmons Feldtman; his Mama and Daddy; two sisters, Ellen Fern Feldtman Fahnert and her husband Henry Fahnert, Katie Lou Feldtman Pepper and her husband C.A. Pepper; four brothers, Lee Shaw, J.D. Shaw, Katie Rose & Nancy, Earnest Floyd Feldtman, and Eldon Feldtman & Ethel; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Percy & Jackie Bullion; one niece, Vickie Lynn Feldtman Canales; and one great niece, Ceceila Shaw.
The family would like to give a special thank you to Diana and Miriam for their care they gave to Norma and George.
