June was born June 19, 1946 in Mercedes Texas. As a young child she moved to DeRidder Louisiana with her family and grew up in DeRidder and Singer area. After her marriage to Thomas P. Knight she enjoyed travels to many states to include Alaska. This is where she fell in love with the outdoors, camping, the Mountains and fishing. She was a cherished wife, mother, sister, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt, friend, and Nana to so many. Her most treasured joy was her family whom she considered to be her greatest achievement. She lived her life to serve others. She loved life and found joy in helping and supporting her children and family to achieve their goals. She worked hard and taught her family the joys of hard work and achievement. She loved preparing big family meals and get-togethers, during which there was always board and card games with her children and family. She was the steadying force within the family, her spirit made the good times great and the hard times survivable. She would say, “We will make the Best of what we have.” No one ever left hungry; the food and doors were always open to welcome all that entered. She worked at Rosepine Elementary Cafeteria for eighteen years and loved interacting with the children. Even after retirement everywhere she went many of the children would recognize her, run toward her saying Ms. June !!! and give her a big hug her.
Those left to cherish her wonderful memory, her son and his wife, Mathew and Katherine Knight of Benton, Arkansas; her six daughters and their husbands, Cynthia Knight and Michael of Sutton, Alaska, Patricia and Mark Goff of Rosepine, Louisiana, Tambra and Keith Guthrie of Lodi, Texas, Chris and Joe Sireci of Rosepine, Louisiana, Melissia and Thomas Green of Orange, Texas, and Amanda Knight and Dan Smith of Rosepine, Louisiana; twenty-four grandchildren, eighteen great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
She passed from this life on April 17, 2019 to go to be with the Lord. She will be waiting with Him and those who preceded her in death; her husband, Thomas Knight; her sisters, Vida, Hettie, and Joy; her brother, J.E. Sigler; her mother, Martha Tingle, and many more loved family and friends until the rest of her family will join her in heaven forevermore.
She was on Hospice and loved her Heart of Hospice nurse Amy and caregiver Ashley. She was given the very best of loving care.
In lieu of flowers, June asks that donations be given to the Order of the Eastern Star Chapter 204 in Rosepine, Louisiana and/or the John C. White Memorial Cemetery fund at 671 B. Johnson Rd. Leesville, LA 71446.
