Larry Leroy Alesi, native and 70-year resident of DeRidder, Louisiana passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his loving family on May 16, 2024. He was 78 years old. Visitation will be Friday, May 24 from 10am-2pm at Grace Church. Funeral service will be Friday, May 24 at 2pm at Grace Church. Interment will be at Whitaker Cemetery. Rev. George Lee Glass and Rev. Charlie Carroll will officiate.
Larry was a graduate of DeRidder High School and a Vietnam veteran. He served in the Army with 173rd ABN Bde. He retired from Jet Drilling Company after 40 years of employment. Larry was a member of the American Legion Post #0027 in DeRidder, a VFW Lifetime member, and an honorary member of the Delta Chi Fraternity.
Larry was a ‘jack of all trades' with many skills and hobbies including cooking, following sports, telling jokes, and owner of Louisiana Photobooth. He also loved to travel and accompanied his wife to George C. Marshall Center in Garmisch-Partenkirchen for 3 years, where they were able to see Germany and the surrounding European countries. While there he became employed at George C. Marshall Center. In 2019, Larry was chosen as an honor veteran at the Walt Disney World Flag Retreat ceremony and had the honor of retiring the flag on Main Street. Larry never met a stranger and loved to talk to everyone he met. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, son, and brother. He spent his life as a friend and a servant to others.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Juanita Moses Carter (mother) and Ted Carter (step-father).
He is survived by his wife, Gloria Jean Alesi of Coweta, OK; son, Jesse Reich, and daughter-in-law, Natalie Reich; grandsons, William, James, and Ethan Reich of Coweta, OK; brother, Ronald (Ron) Carter of DeRidder, LA; sisters, Brenda Lambert of DeRidder, LA, and Peggie Lee of Houston, TX; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and other family members.
