Leslie Lynn Morgan

d. June 2, 2021

“Be strong and courageous, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.” Joshua 1:9 Leslie Lynn Morgan, 62, of DeRidder, LA passed away on Wednesday, June 2, 2021 at MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, TX. She was born on December 17, 1958 in DeRidder, LA, where she resided most of her life. Visitation will be Sunday, June 6 from 4-7pm at First Baptist Church of DeRidder.  Celebration of Life service will be Monday, June 7 at 2pm at First Baptist Church of DeRidder.  Interment will be at Beauregard Cemetery.  Rev. Aaron Dickinson, Rev. Stuart Graves, and Rev. Steve Graves will officiate. Leslie had five major passions in life: faith, family, friends, children and adventure. Leslie’s faith and trust in the Lord was unwavering. She shared her love for Christ and her personal spiritual journey with anyone who was willing to listen. It brought her great joy to lead someone closer to the Lord. Leslie was a member of First Baptist Church of DeRidder. She was active in the church choir, handbells, and the youth ministry and served on several Faithwalk teams over the years. She was a loyal and endearing confidant to numerous friends and acquaintances that God placed in her life. Leslie would drop everything to assist, reassure or encourage friends, colleagues and even complete strangers if it was placed on her heart. She treasured the close friendship bonds she was blessed to have throughout her life. Leslie had a true gift when it came to working with children. She ministered to countless young people over the course of her life, and every child had a special place in her heart. Leslie was a remarkable teacher; she was named “Teacher of the Year” at Carver Elementary. She was also a long-standing youth leader at First Baptist Church. But most of all, Leslie loved and adored her own children and grandchildren unconditionally, as well as a host of nieces and nephews who she appreciated, guided and nurtured like her own. Lastly, Leslie lived for adventure. Whether it was traveling to the beach, serving on church mission trips around the globe, visiting Disney World numerous times, or relaxing on the porch at her camp on Toledo Bend, she greeted each opportunity with excitement, curiosity and wonder. She loved to travel and see and experience new things along the way. Leslie is preceded in death by her parents, Mary Grace & Sam Lack; father, George Huckabay; mother-in-law, Lois Furlow; grandsons, Briggs and Bowdie Taylor; nephew, Damon Frusha; niece, Megan Lack; and sister-in-law, Geraldine Brister. Those left to cherish her memory are her husband, Julius Morgan of DeRidder; her children, David (Kay) Morgan of Lake Charles, Joshua Morgan and Katie (Nathan) Taylor of DeRidder; four grandchildren, Grace and Drew Morgan and Noah and Isabella Taylor; siblings, Christi Cooley, Sam (Penny) Lack, Mary Jean (Bryan) Rabalais of DeRidder and Jackie (Gina) Lack of Longville; and stepmother, Elaine Huckabay of Mansfield. The family expresses their sincere gratitude to Kandyce Barkley for her selflessness and commitment to Leslie during her long-term treatment at MD Anderson Cancer Center.
