Macon graduated from DeRidder High School, attended SWLA Institute. He joined the CCC until he enlisted in 1940 into the Army Air Corp, which became the U.S. Air Force. He retired as an E8, Chief Master SGT. Macon and his family moved back to Mabelle's family farm. After settling down in DeRidder he went to work for Angola State Prison and LCIS, Phelps Correctional. Macon graduated from Sam Houston State University in Huntsville,TX with a Criminal Justice Degree. He once again retired. During his retirement he hiked the Appalachian Trail several times, and did quite a few talks about his adventures. Macon's grandchildren and great grandchildren will miss the stories and the adventures.
