Ruben Eduardo Nevarez, 68, of DeRidder, LA, passed away Wednesday night, November 2nd, 2022, surrounded by his family at his home. He was born on October 28th, 1954 in El Paso, TX, he was the son of the late Guadalupe Valle. Ruben was a respected and proud decorated Vietnam War Navy Veteran. He was assigned to the Amphibious Forces upon entering the Navy at the age of 17. He had to receive permission from his mother to serve his country and served from 1972 to 1979 (spending the last 2 years in the Navy reserves). He earned the Bronze Star Medal, “the fourth-highest ranking award a service member can receive for a heroic and meritorious deed performed in an armed conflict.” He was a humble but proud Veteran. After his service to his Country, he always said his greatest achievement in life is his family. Ruben is survived by his daughters Elizabeth Dawn Marie Nevarez of DeRidder, LA; Christina Ann Cline-Nevarez (son-in-law Kenneth Ray Loyd, Sr.) of DeRidder, LA; and Rikki Francene Parker (son-in-law Tevin) of San Antonio, TX. His Grand-Children Toree Gradillas (Noah), Justin Warren, Jaiden Nevarez and Camron Parker. Great-Grandchildren Brayden, Amari, Elijah and Ezkiel. Sister Bertha Renteria of Santa Clarita, CA. Brothers Miguel Nevarez of California, Gilbert Nevarez of California and Rudy Nevarez of California. A larger than life family of Cousins, Nieces and Nephews. Ruben is preceded in death by his mother, Guadalupe Valle, his sisters Aurora Orona, Celia Parra and his brother, Ricardo Nevarez. A very special and heartfelt thank you to the following for providing the care, support, and love for his care: Companion Care of SWLA – Mark and Renee Wallace, Meagan Thom, Matthew Wallace, Mindy Tindall, Kim Maples, Crystal Blum and the Caregivers who touched his heart.
